I Like Housework

I like housework.

I’ve always found it fulfilling and comforting in some way.  Yes, I truly enjoy it.

I’ve never quite analyzed “why?” or “why not?”  Plain and simple, it’s just something that needs to be done.  Whether it’s cooking dinner, doing some clean up, re-organizing the refridgerator, or doing laundry, there is something just right about life when things are organized and clean.

Let’s take washing dishes, for example.  Everyday, whether I’m the cook or not, I take charge and wash our supper dishes.  Sometimes, I’ll spend 15 minutes, other nights, I’ll rather for a half-hour somethings fourty five minutes getting-er done!  One of the best sensations is my hands in the hot water.  My hands feel Palmolive clean, whether I’m using Dove, Sunlight or Joy.

Doing the laundry, although a much more involved chore, gives me the feeling of completeness – like I’ve accomplished something.  There’s no better feeling in the world than telling my partner that every piece of laundry in the house is done – that every single article of clothing and towel is clean.

Part of me like to ensure it’s done the way I like.  I’m a bit obsessive-compulsive when it comes to housework.  But Deborah really likes the way I fold laundry, always so perfect.  (When she does the laundry, I do catch myself, from time-to-time, re-folding my underwear the way I like them.)

Deborah does most of the cooking.  She also does must more of the meal planning and grocery shopping than I do.  There are times when she’s up at 5 in the morning, making dinner for that night.  As we speak, she’s got a delicious garden vegetable soup simmering.  I feel cared for and am so appreciate for her work.  She’s an amazing cook.

To be honest, the biggest reward is the feeling I get in providing for my family.  It’s one of my ways to show Deborah and the kids how much I Love them.

WOW! Deborah is sure a lucky woman. I wonder if more men felt that way would there be more relationships that last? I congratulate and thank you on sharing such a caring and loving of your nature. Well done, Bob!
