Taabik 'place' in their first contest

The Taabik Singers, primarily Beausoleil First Nation Members, attended the Rama Mnjikaning First Nation Competition Powwow Oct. 7th and 8th. 2006.  This was the groups first attempt competing at a powwow and they went into the weekend with no expectations except one, to have fun.  This attitude and their desire to improve allowed the group to place in the contest.  Taabik finished fifth and was among the top groups throughout the weekend.  The point spread indicated that Taabik was very close to finishing in the top 3.  The contest Placings: (1st) Snake Island, (2nd) White Tail Cree, (3rd) Whitefish Jrs., (4th) Biimsko Nodin, (5th) Taabik Singers.  As you can see by that list, Taabik was in an elite group.

Members of Taabik who attended: Laval Williams (lead singer), Dan Monague, Bob Goulais, Barry Assance, Wayne Monague, Collin Copegog, Doug Monague, Anthony Sylvester, Andrew Carruthers, Hank Monague and Jesse Sylvester.
